GladAfrica Group turns 15

GladAfrica Group turns 15

GladAfrica Group has reached an exciting milestone as the company celebrates 15 years of delivering engineering excellence to the built environment. From its small, 2002 beginnings in Midrand Johannesburg, the company has grown into a national business with more than 200 employees.

The multi-disciplinary built environment consultancy has a dynamic footprint that spans across all nine provinces. The Group comprises of highly experienced professionals delivering viable built environment solutions. Since 2009, GladAfrica Group has not held an order book of less than USD1 billion. Today, the Group facilitates a total of R49.7 billion capex infrastructure programmes and concurrently runs over 100 projects.

“The first time I considered going into business, was 15 years ago. The idea at the time seemed implausible. Everyone around me was critical and voiced how ridiculous it was for someone who was not an Engineer to start an engineering business. I must admit the idea was dubious.

Studies have shown that less than 5% of business in South Africa survive five years. When you look at such statistics, it puts into perspective how difficult it is to make it to 15 years, which gives us more reasons to celebrate such a significant anniversary milestone.

What may have seemed to be a ‘dubious’ idea a few years ago has grown into an extraordinary business,” says Founder and Chairman, Noel Mashaba.

The GladAfrica Group currently consists of four operating entities to deliver services in the built environment namely; GladAfrica Consulting Engineers, GladAfrica Project Managers, GA Environment and GladAfrica Investments.

“The current economic environment is tough and survival is the order of the day. Our continuous growth and entrenchment in the South African economy is testament to a team that is dedicated, loyal, committed and always prepared to give of their best. We have a team of talented individuals who believe in stretching themselves and delivering quality products to our clients, around the clock. Our performance bar is high, and the excellence prevalent in our outputs speaks volumes of the GladAfrica Group way of doing business,” adds Group CEO, Kulani Curtis Lebese.

Lebese continues; “Whilst the economic outlook remains unfavourable, we are confident that our recently adopted five-year strategy will ensure a renewed focus in achieving our set objectives to run our business expertly by providing excellent customer-led service.”

“We stand proud today as one of the players in an industry still dominated by strong multinational competitors. We thank our clients for believing in us and our employees for their hard work and dedication,” concludes Mashaba.
