  • Purpose:

    New Biomedical Research Facility building including upgrading existing FISAN building and associated infrastructure upgrades.

  • Scope:

    The BMRF project involves upgrading / re-planning of the existing Fisan Building, building an adjacent new research facility and atrium to link the refurbished and new buildings, and ultimately form one new building end product. The facilities will house all existing Biomedical Sciences departments as well as all research laboratories, semi-private and private research units and companies to support the academic building on Tygerberg Campus. The refurbished existing Fisan Building with some additions will be approximately 17 367 m2 consisting of 5 levels above ground and a basement. The new proposed adjacent building which is connected to the existing Fisan building will be approximately 13 938 m2 consisting of 4 levels above ground and a basement.
